DIONEX Pty Ltd (Dionex Corporation)

Dionex Pty Ltd was created in Australia/New Zealand as a subsidiary of Dionex Corporation in May, 2004 to facilitate sustained business growth in this region.  Dionex Corporation was founded in 1975 with the goal of helping chemists become more productive by providing them with products that eliminate repetitive, time-consuming tasks.

At the time, Dionex was developing ion chromatography (IC), an innovative analytical technique that enabled chemists to quickly separate, isolate, and identify ionic components of chemical mixtures.  Since then, the scope of Dionex technology has expanded to include a broad range of techniques, including IC, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) including capillary and nano LC, accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), automation, and on-line process analysis. Innovation and quality have made Dionex a leader in the worldwide separations industry.

Our expertise allows us to work closely with chemists, biochemists, and other customers in various markets. We actively seek new technologies to help our industry.

Customer satisfaction is the foundation for our continued growth and strong financial condition.  And it is the organizing principle for all of our operations, from R&D and manufacturing, to sales and customer support.

Dionex Pty Ltd Head Office is in Lane Cove, NSW with representatives in NSW,QLD, VIC and New Zealand and distributors in SA and WA. Contact information by emailing sales@dionex.com.au or phoning 1800 081 116 or 61 2 9420 5233 and Fax 61 2 9420 5244.

Shimadzu Scientific

Shimadzu began in Kyoto Japan in 1875 by a man named Genzo Shimadzu. He first produced items in order to teach school children about science, things such as prisms that refract light and simple telescopes.
He later developed X-ray machines and other medical devices and as the company grew they then began to produce gas and liquid chromatography equipment. Thus the scientific arm of Shimadzu was created.
With each new generation, Shimadzu Corporation has been committed to commercializing cutting edge technology and providing it to customers in a wide range of industries. As we enter the 21st century, we at Shimadzu will build on the technical foundation we have established thus far and continue to introduce even more new businesses, faster than ever, for the field of medical measurement, as well as R and D and quality control fields of pharmaceuticals, food products, semiconductors and life science industries.
Shimadzu is a player on the world stage. Based on a 5 block overseas network consisting of North America, Central Asia, South America, Europe, China and Asia Oceania, we established marketing and production bases all over the world. We have created business structures that can respond to the varying needs of different countries and regions, and are actively working towards internationalization of technological development through greater cooperation in areas of research, development and marketing.
Shimadzu is striving to develop business in a way that reflects the importance of our partnerships with customers all over the world. Regarding the global issue of environmental conservation, we produce a wide variety of environmental products, such as exhaust-gas analyzers and water-quality monitoring systems, and actively promote their production overseas.
Shimadzu is also committed to R and D in 2003 a Shimadzu employee Koitsi Tanaka won the Nobel prize for chemistry for his contribution to the development of MALDI-TOF technology.
Shimadzu is committed to a very bright scientific future and looks very much forward in its thinking and its actions.

The Role of the ESA CoulArray Detection System in the Analysis of Biological Fluids

The ability to identify and quantitate levels of biogenic catecholamines in both plasma and urine samples is fundamental to the routine clinical diagnosis and management of a number of pathological conditions.
In addition, the determination of levels of urinary vanillylmandelic, homovanillic and 5-hydroxy indole acetic acids can be used for the diagnosis and maintenance of tumors of neural crest origin, such as pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, ganglioneuroma and carcinoid tumor and syndrome respectively.

The use of High Performance Liquid Chromatography, coupled with electrochemical detection is a useful technique for the determination of each of the above-mentioned groups of analytes.
Specifically, the use of ESA’s CoulArray detection system has allowed these groups of analytes to now be determined without lengthy extraction procedures having to be employed.

This presentation provides an overview of some of the principles of the coulometric detection system and the enhanced capabilities of the CoulArray detector. The use of the CoulArray detector in a number of clinical applications, including the extraction free procedures mentioned, will be discussed.
